The Gift of Life and Getting Older
We don't experience life, we experience the life we focus on.
Hello my friend,
Yesterday marked a new year of life for me.
By this stage of my life I really thought I’d have it all figured out.
Yet the reality is very different.
Life has its own way and its own say.
And the truth is I still have no idea which direction it is taking me in.
There is so much outside our control.
And it’s always going to be like that.
When that really stuck for me a few years back it was liberating.
Nothing changed yet everything did.
Because of my mindset and attitude towards it.
They are what changed.
I released my grip a little.
I started letting go instead of holding on.
I learned to be more present and appreciate the moments more.
I became at peace with it.
I became excited for it.
I became content not to have all the answers.
I embraced the uncertainty.
One thing I did become certain of is that life is a gift.
And it’s right in front of our eyes.
It is a journey without a finish line.
An adventure without a clear map.
And it’s one I’m glad to still be figuring out.
I know I never will.
I’m excited to see where the journey continues to take me.
That makes me feel alive.
Grateful for another year.
Cheers!

Thank you as always for being here and for reading.

That’s a great read Nick. Just lean into life and enjoy the experiences. You are just at the start of an exciting new stage…..
And as Bill Nighy said in “love Actually” “don't buy drugs….Become a rock and you will get them for free”.
Just joking Nick (Ive never done a drug in my life) but it was a funny line…which summed up for me the perverse, fickle and foolish world we all inhabit. So don't take life too seriously its a fairground ride just hold on tight and enjoy it…
